Charles M. Taylor, Esq.

Charles Taylor is honored to be an officer and director of the Friends of the Freie Universität Berlin, since it is an opportunity to repay both the FU and the City for all that they have contributed to him and his career.

Following graduation with honors from Harvard College, where he majored in German History, Charles Taylor was awarded a Dankstipendium, which enabled him to study law at the Free University of Berlin. Graduation from Columbia University School of Law was followed by admission to the bar in New York and years of private law practice there. Moving out of New York, he became a Philadelphia lawyer, where he has used his German training and Berlin contacts in providing legal advice and consulting services to internationally oriented clients. These activities were recognized by the German Foreign Office and he was named Honorary Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany for the Philadelphia region. While serving in that position, he was also elected President of the Consular Corps of Philadelphia.

As a Director of the Friends of the Freie Universität Berlin, he is responsible for alumni outreach, which involves making contact with American FU alumni to enlist their support of the FFUB to demonstrate their own appreciation of the time spent at the FU and to further the efforts of the FU in every way. As this effort expands, the FFUB will be able to work with alumni groups and academic institutions in providing significant German programs throughout the country.
